RADIO, NEWSPAPERS, TV AND MORE...
"OFFICIAL ELVIS FOR 3WS RADIO STATION "
Don was the "Official Elvis for 3WS"
until the station changed their song format. This is a great radio
station and we are still on good terms with the staff.
Pittsburgh
knows how to party!!
3WS Radio Station/DeBolt Travel - Bus Trip to Graceland,
August, 1997. To honor the 20th anniversary of the death of Elvis,
three busloads of Pittsburgh fans, with their guests Don and Hilda,
toured Graceland. Don performed for hundreds of fans at Graceland Plaza,
and that show was broadcast live, back in our hometown of Pittsburgh.
Don appeared in "The Tennessean," a Memphis,
Tennessee newspaper. On the return trip home, Don did a quick set at
the "Mall in Kentucky." Those
of you on the bus tour will certainly remember THAT story! |
|
Greeting fans at Graceland Plaza |
While on various trips
to Memphis, Don had the opportunity to sing at:
- Graceland Crossing - Memphis,
TN
- The Famous New Daisy Theater on Beale Street - Memphis, TN
- Graceland Plaza
- Memphis, TN
Visiting Graceland/Memphis is an awesome experience and we recommend
that you visit
Graceland, preferably during the week commemorating Elvis' death, which
is the week of
August 16th. (See Photo
Gallery for Photos of Elvis Week 2002 25th Anniversary and
3WS 20th anniversary bus trip)
APPEARANCES FOR VARIOUS RADIO AND TV EVENTS:
- WQED – Pittsburgh's Public
Broadcasting Station. In May, 2001, "On Q Magazine" voted
Don "The
Best Elvis in Pittsburgh" during a live, on-air contest. Don also performed live for WQED's audience during the pledge breaks
of a special Elvis documentary
- WPXI/PCNC talk show "Local
Talk"; also, after a
performance for Pittsburgh's New Year's Eve "First Night®" Celebration,
WPXI interviewed Don and later filmed him singing "Blue Suede
Shoes" atop
a building rooftop. (see video
clip)
- 3WS Radio — concerts, a
bus tour to Graceland, car cruises,
and "meet and greet" events
- WXDX - "The X" radio station had Don as
one of three celebrity judges for a contest to decide which contestant
sounded the best, while singing a hard rock song, in the style of Elvis!
- WPXI, WTAE, KDKA and FOX 53 -
news segments
- WBGN Starquest
- Fox News Channel - Fox and Friends Fifth
Anniversary Party, filmed
in New York City. Segments of Don and several other celebrity look-a-likes
were shown on national television. The impersonators were shown exiting
a limo, as they entered the Fox and Friends party. Several weeks
later, a brief segment of Don and Richard Simmons was also shown
on national television.
At the end of a documentary entitled "All The Kings Men" (which aired
on the Learning Channel), Don is shown on-stage, in the spotlights,
and he pays tribute to Elvis, America, and our mighty military by
presenting his awesome "Aloha/American Eagle" cape to the audience. This
cape is an exact replica of the one worn by Elvis and features a magnificent
jeweled image of the American Eagle.
NEWSPAPERS
THE TENNESSEAN
For the 20th anniversary of the death of Elvis, Don is
shown walking along Elvis Presley Boulevard (See
Photo Gallery). During
our Elvis Week trips to Memphis and Graceland, Don was filmed, interviewed
and photographed by many tv stations, newspapers and magazines throughout
the world. Film clips of him were seen on "ABC's
World News Tonight" and "Good Morning
America."

"FOX
AND FRIENDS"
At the "Fox and Friends" Fifth Anniversary Party (August
2003), Don met the one and only Richard Simmons, popular soul singers/songwriters
Ashford and Simpson AND the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (No wonder Don likes
this job! In case you are wondering, this is Don's manager/wife, Hilda, editing
this resume. When you are young, you can be a "Hooters Girl" or one
of the "Dallas
Cowboys Cheerleaders." When you get older, you get to take their picture!)
Don was one of several celebrity impersonators hired for this event, and the
only Elvis. (See Photo Gallery for great
pictures of this fun event)
